Temple Historic Home Tour

This guide-led tour of the Temple Historic Home District may be enjoyed from ground level on an electric scooter or in the comfort of our specially equipped 14-passenger shuttle bus (ADA accessible). The tour begins by scooter or bus at 2pm where we follow a specific route. Begins the historic story of “Tanglefoot” at the Santa Fe Depot. The group then proceeds to the oldest residences in Temple, TX. At each stop the Guide shares history and stories of the various residences and structures from Temple’s earliest beginnings.

The group travels north on 9th Street to the boundary of the designated North Central Temple Historic District. Seeing the district by scooters allows our guest to have a full view of the beauty, architecture and natural settings of some of the most opulent homes in the area. For those wanting to absorb the beauty from our AC equipped bus can offload at each stop, or remain inside and hear the stories from within. Our tour stops at 15 designated points and our guide describes historical facts about select structures. During the tour we see homes with Temple Historical Markers, Texas Historical Markers, four Recorded Texas Historic Landmarks (RTHL) and one home listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
